Millie Bentley-Memon has worked as an Education Program Specialist at the U.S. Department of Education for more than 15 years.  During this time, she has worked with grants to States, LEAs, and other organizations and also provided expertise on English learner education.  Prior to joining ED, she worked for more than 10 years as a teacher and administrator working with English learners in grades PK-16 in the U.S. and overseas.  She earned a Ph.D. in Education Policy from the University of Maryland and MA from the American University in Cairo.  She and her husband live in Maryland where they have three children enrolled in public schools.
