Policy Institute: How Events, Priorities, and Ideology Influence Federal Programs Breakout Session A

In this session, attendees will hear about how Congress reacts to priorities expressed by various federal stakeholders.  This will include an exploration of how Congress has controlled the Secretary’s role in federal programs from the previous administration to today, and how Congress responds to administration policy and appropriations proposals.  It will also explore specific examples of how advocates have pushed for new policies and how lawmakers have incorporated those priorities into legislation – or not – and why.
