Leading for Equity and Excellence: It's a Team Sport, Not an Individual Event!

Join the principals of Innovation High School (NJ) and Bronxdale High School (NY) in an important conversation about building leadership teams as a strategy for changing the trajectory of highly diverse secondary schools. These schools have demonstrated exemplary outcomes for attendance, academic achievement, discipline, and graduation rates by structuring and organizing their high schools for success. They have done this by effectively implementing distributed leadership, PLCs, and restorative justice in their buildings. The resulting teams accomplish far more than the most dynamic leader could do alone. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in engaging conversations about the benefits and challenges of delegating responsibilities to teacher teams. In addition, there will be hands-on activities to explore ways of finding time during the school day for the staff collaboration needed to foster true professional learning communities and structure student advisory time.
