Sakinah Dantzler

Dr. Sakinah Dantzler has been an educator for 18 years. With experience at both the k-12 and college/university levels, this educator is guided by a core belief that All learners can achieve at high levels. Having earned a BA in Elementary Education, a MS in Reading Education and a EdD in Organizational Leadership with a concentration in Educational Leadership, Sakinah firmly believes clarified expectations, coupled with systematic methods for data reflection that result in responsive instructional decisions help to support learning in moving forward. Moreover, Sakinah believes when adults get it right, students win; as a result Sakinah and her colleagues passionately lead processes that encourage reflection and shifts in practice. Sakinah currently serves as a District Title I Coach. In this capacity, Sakinah, along with her immediate colleague support teaching and learning, as well as lead initiatives in 46 Title I Schools. Prior to this assignment, Sakinah served as an Intervention and Reading Recovery Teacher. Sakinah has taught various grades (K-5) and has also served as grade-chair and coordinator for after school and summer school programming. Finally, Sakinah has taught college level courses for pre service teachers in reading at various universities and developmental reading at a host of local community colleges. Sakinah’s hope is equity with excellence for all, as such she participated in a summer program at Harvard University that addressed this concept in depth. Sakinah, along with her colleagues work diligently to implement monitoring systems to help realize the goal of equitable access for all learners across Title I Schools.
