Thursday February 2, 2023
4:00 - 5:00 PM
Room 107-110

In a coordinated effort, the Maine Department of Education collaborates across federal program teams to assist school districts in using ESEA and ESSER funds to provide comprehensive summer programming to students through the “braiding” of local, state, and federal funds. Components of the presentation will include a description of the collaborative process used by federal programs teams, technical assistance provided to school districts, and the showcasing of “braided” summer programs being implemented throughout the state. In particular, Lewiston Public Schools, one of Maine’s largest and most diverse school districts, will describe how it braided local, state, and federal funding to mitigate learning loss by expanding summer academic and enrichment programming to all student groups, with a particular focus on English Learners, children experiencing homelessness, and other disadvantaged student groups
