Since 2000, Alexa Sorden has served as an educator in the NYC Department of Education. She has served as a teacher, Lit Coach, Director of Achievement, and principal for the past nine years. In 2013, Alexa founded CVES, located in the South Bronx. Alexa has a strong commitment to bringing rigorous education to all children regardless of their zip code. In 2017 Alexa received the Ryan Award for Transformational Leadership. In 2018, CVES received the National Blue Ribbon Award for exemplary performance. In 2020, Alexa received the National Award for Equity and Excellence NCUST. Alexa is a graduate of Teachers College, Columbia University. This past spring, she earned ABD status at St. John’s University’s doctoral program in Educational Leadership and is on track for completion in fall 2021.
