The Progress and Growth of a Trauma Sensitive School

In this session, the audience will hear how a stated-identified Priority School (lower 10%) moved students to achieve significant gains in the area of Progress and Growth as identified on their state CCRPI scores. The processes used to create a trauma sensitive school, while keeping a focus on student achievement, can be quite difficult. This session will ignite a fire and share ideas that district and school-level leaders can immediately implement. Come and hear from a school that is closing the achievement gap and sustaining previous successes.

As a principal, I have served all three grade levels including elementary, middle and high school. I have worked in at-risk schools on each of my assignments. I have had the opportunity to present at conferences over the last 10 years about the achievements of our at-risk schools. As principal during the last two assignments, our schools have made major improvements. While there is a lot of work still needing to be done, our improvement efforts did not go in vain.
