The Nevada Department of Education, Montana Office of Public Information, and the American Bar Association’s Center on Children and the Law are joining forces for this presentation. This presentation is designed to educated and inform participants concerning this vulnerable group of students. This presentation will provide overviews of the following: • Student in foster care protections (a national view) • Child welfare connection • Roles and responsibilities • School stability (why it matters) • Best Interest Determination Right to remain in school Right to transportation • Right to immediate enrollment • Foster care Points of Contact (POC’s) • Reporting requirements • Resources: people, documents, websites
