This presentation will focus on restructuring alternative education to include project-based learning opportunities which emphasize students’ personal experiences and character development as measurable summative assessments. The specific project showcased today engages students in their beliefs and asks them to reflect on their experiences in education and life, develop what they hold to be true about these beliefs, and then showcase these beliefs through multiple forms of writing, artistic representations, and presentations. During the presentation, audience members will have access to the project and its elements, student success stories, credit-recovery options, and suggestions for how to implement it in their own schools.
