Leadership in School Turnaround: Meeting People Where They Are and Going Forward Together

Thursday January 31, 2019
1:00 - 2:00 PM
Great Hall 3501 G

Turnaround leaders know that problems of practice have many layers. They have both a technical and a human side. They are rooted in what people know and what they need to know. Their solutions must address the assumptions that school and community stakeholders bring into turnaround efforts. While the research points us to evidence-based strategies, the context and the people have an important impact on our ability to implement and sustain what works. In this session, we will work at the intersection of two frameworks to address the dual aspects of progress in school turnaround. Using the evidence base on leadership domain expressed in the Four Domains of Rapid School Turnaround, we will apply the tools for adaptive leadership expressed in the stakeholder developed blueprint, Leading by Convening. This session is grounded in problems of practice and offers an array of tools to meet state, local and school challenges. Join us!
