"Don't Tell Me About My Kid"

Wednesday January 30, 2019
2:00 - 3:00 PM
Great Hall 3501 A

Educators and parents/caregivers are often at odds—especially when students who have special needs are in the mix. This dynamic and compelling session contrasts the acute academic and social challenges confronted by educators with the chronic practical and emotional challenges facing parents and caregivers. Through funny and poignant anecdotes, along with illustrative slides, this powerful session conveys the different perspectives educators and parents/caregivers bring to the conversation. Participants will take away practical strategies for establishing trust and effecting meaningful collaboration to maximize curricular achievement. Through an empathic, mutual understanding, educators and parents/caregivers become a powerful force in bringing out the best in the complex children we share.
