Confident Girls, Safe Schools, Successful Students: New Research from 10,678 U.S. Girls

Saturday February 2, 2019
12:00 - 1:00 PM
Great Hall 3501 A

Learn the newest insights and practical intervention strategies from the country’s largest, first-of-its-kind national survey with 10,678 5th-12th grade girls. From confidence, body image, sexting and social media to school, academics, career planning and leadership, the findings from The Girls’ Index provide a roadmap for educators to recognize the challenges impacting girls. Participants will learn the relationships between and among common categorical differentiators and how they impact outcomes for girls (i.e. % poverty, school type, school location, GPA, ethnicity, sport participation, perception of ability, etc.) and will learn concrete strategies to immediately employ in their work with elementary, middle and high school girls. This session will provide resources and research reports for attendees to share with their school staff to start a conversation about creating stronger girls, safer schools and successful students.
