This presentation will follow the journey of one school in creating a multi-tiered system of support for struggling readers at the junior high level. There is a pervasive need for reading intervention and remediation in grades 7-9; however, many teacher preparation programs do not equip teachers to remediate reading difficulties. This session highlights the specific measures used to identify students for reading support, the specific programs used for remediation, the process for integrating reading comprehension instruction in our core curriculum, and practical advice on how to include tier two small group reading intervention in the junior high classroom.
