ESSA and Equitable Access to Excellent Educators

Friday February 24, 2017
2:30 - 3:30 PM
Grand Ballroom B

The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requires states to ensure that students of color and students from low-income backgrounds are not taught disproportionately by inexperienced, ineffective, or out-of-field teachers. The Equitable Access Support Network has been supporting states to address this goal since late 2014, when the U.S. Department of Education first issued guidance to states to develop educator equity plans. This session will orient participants to the resources that the EASN has produced and help them apply these resources to states’ efforts to develop plans for ESSA implementation.
