Come hear the story of a Title I school in northwest Indiana who faced state takeover 10 years ago and is now among the highest scoring schools when compared to schools of similar demographics. Concord West Side is a K-4 elementary school with 76% of our students on free and reduced lunch and 67% language learners. Using a school wide approach to small group reading instruction and a dedicated time for students needing intervention, West Side School is meeting the needs of its diverse population through personal connections and reading strategies tailored to the needs of the students.
