Feeling overwhelmed by challenging student behaviors and emotional needs? Learn how one elementary school took action by developing a Restorative Center- a dedicated space for students to develop the social-emotional skills they need to be successful in school and beyond. After describing our journey, including our challenges and successes, we will provide attendees with the opportunity and structure to think through how they might design and implement a Restorative Center that meets the needs of their students, using the resources they have available.
Brigette Warner's school administrative experience includes elementary principal, assistant principal, and summer school principal. She taught kindergarten for ten years and was a gifted and talented, full-time classroom teacher for ten years in grades 1, 2, 3, and 5. Prior to becoming a teacher, she was a social worker. She has masters degrees in Social Work, Education, and Educational Leadership.
Jennifer Zarak has been in education for 32 years. Jennifer taught middle school ELA for 25 years and was part of the behavioral intervention team for 5 years. Jennifer has been Whitney Elementary's school counselor for the past 8 years and also has her LCPC and has been doing private practice in mental health counseling for 15 years. Jennifer holds master's degrees in Special Education and Counseling. Jennifer recently became a CRM (Community Resilience Model) certified teacher.
