Rooted in Research, Growing Readers: Hopkins County’s Literacy Revival

Hopkins County Schools has embarked on a transformative journey grounded in the Science of Reading, reshaping early literacy instruction with purpose and precision. With support from Title I funding, the district implemented UFLI Foundations, Heggerty phonemic awareness, and Lexia Core5 to build a cohesive, research-based literacy framework in grades K–2. This session highlights how Title I resources supported high-quality instructional materials, targeted professional development, and personalized interventions for struggling readers. Participants will learn how these tools align to meet diverse learner needs, how teachers were empowered through coaching and training, and how literacy success is celebrated across schools. Whether you're launching or deepening your Science of Reading work, this session offers practical insights & proven results to help grow strong, confident readers—starting at the roots.
