Reducing Chronic Absenteeism Through School-Based Wraparound Supports

Chronic absenteeism is a crisis across our country. We need innovative approaches to reduce chronic absenteeism, supporting disadvantaged students and their families. The reasons behind absenteeism are varied and complex, so we need solutions that are flexible and responsive. The Compass Care model is a relationship-based, family-focused, action-oriented approach to helping students and families overcome barriers. It is a holistic model, supporting students and families across all domains of wellness, including basic needs, transportation, motivation, organization, and mental health.
