Movement-Based Strategies to Boost Math Outcomes

Brain scientists have identified that movement is essential for enhanced brain function, circulation, focus, concentration, learning, and retention. In this presentation, you will learn efficient teaching and learning strategies that make math fun and engaging, promote equity, allow students to make up for the lost time due to the COVID-19 pandemic, dovetail with virtual instruction, strengthen SEL, and support parents’ efforts in at-home instruction. Participants will learn about brain science and why movement-based learning is beneficial for every student and every adult. Participants will also learn simple strategies to increase focus, concentration, and to energize students. Everyone will return to their home districts with intervention strategies to link movement to academic content and how to incorporate movement in both in-person and virtual lessons.
