How California is Supporting Leaders Through Title II

This workshop will explore themes of effective leadership and professional learning by highlighting California’s use of Title II funds to provide professional learning opportunities at no cost for leaders across the state. In 2019, California expanded its use of Title II to include support for leaders by establishing the 21st Century California School Leadership Academy (21CSLA). 21CSLA serves to build the capacity of central office leaders, principals, and other school leaders through high-quality professional learning, coaching, and mentoring. 21CSLA’s grounding principles—equity leadership, continuous improvement, and professional learning—directly align with the conference themes. Our presentation will include examples and insights into how 21CSLA is serving leaders across three levels: (1) support for all, (2) differentiated assistance, and (3) intensive intervention by highlighting supports provided by our Universal Transitional Kindergarten Initiative.
