Disruptive behavior in classrooms leads to negative outcomes for both students and teachers and punitive suspensions often worsen the problem. To break this cycle, structured interventions like Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) or Restorative Justice are essential. These interventions teach positive behaviors, provide support, and promote accountability. Industry data shows that schools implementing structured interventions experience significant reductions in disciplinary referrals and suspensions, leading to improved academic outcomes and a safer learning environment for all students. The Return to Joy Program is an in-school restoration program that addresses the root causes of disruptive behavior, promotes essential social-emotional skills, and fosters a positive school climate. Keeping students engaged in the learning process and promoting a sense of belonging leads to better academic outcomes for our students.
