U.S. schools and districts have an imperative to change the fabric of our nation by fully serving all students, especially those populations who have been systematically marginalized for generations, to reach their highest potential. This imperative is no longer just rhetoric, but a viable course of action. We can be responsive to the full range of student needs by using intentional school leadership development and coaching to implement and sustain an equity-based Multi-Tiered System of Support. Additionally, we must strengthen district leadership capacity to support implementation and sustain these transformations in schools. This approach to MTSS involves creating equitable learning environments and cultures that match resources to student need for better outcomes. This session will highlight the key components inherent in creating this systemic and vital approach to developing educational leaders whose schools serve all students as they learn and grow.

Monica Dixon

Mrs. Monica Dixon, Leadership Development and Research Project Director for SWIFT Education Center, works collaboratively with educational leadership teams to transform school cultures and systems. She previously spent more than 20 years in various roles in the largest urban school district in Nebraska working with teachers, school and district leadership teams to provide an equity based education for all students.
Maura Hart

Maura Hart has been leading schools, districts and states in the implementation of systems -wide initiatives to improve equitable access to student learning for the past 20+ years.
Dawn Miller

Dr. Miller has over 20 years experience serving and leading system transformation efforts in state, district and site arenas spanning prek-12. Dr. Miller leads the team of Leadership Development and Research Directors providing learning and coaching for schools across the nation. Her most recent publication is Leading equity-based MTSS for all students published by Corwin.
