Do you have students who skip, guess, or just give up when they encounter long, complex words in printed texts? Experience a simple, functional approach for reading and spelling multisyllabic words. English has over 1.6 million words, and there are 6 simple syllable types that help our students unlock the code for good. This “Lose the Rules” approach targets student understanding over memory. Use a simple-to-create manipulative that invites students to read multisyllabic words with ease and leave ready to teach this functional strategy!

Scott DeSimone

Scott DeSimone, one of the founders of Really Great Reading, travels nationwide helping teachers learn the most powerful and efficient ways to teach beginning and struggling readers to decode. He has spearheaded the development of multiple programs for teaching decoding, including print products and online components.
Julie Sealine

Julie Sealine is an implementation specialist for Really Great Reading. Julie has provided professional development and consulting for the Iowa Department of Education throughout the state. Now with Really Great Reading, Julie is honored to be able to continue working with teachers and students to grow decoding skills in schools across the nation. She is a member of the Reading League.
