Distinguished Schools -Teachers in Command: Our Journey to Equity and Excellence

Lecture 1

Join us on our journey from being an “On Watch” school to receiving multiple awards in just three years’ time. We will walk you through the entire redesign process our district took to become a nationally recognized district. Our presenters will share how every stakeholder was involved throughout the entire process to ensure fidelity and stakeholder buy-in. Attendees will collaborate with the presenters and each other to analyze data and make data-driven instructional decisions. This session will focus heavily on the MTSS process and using Universal Screeners and progress monitoring to drive intervention instruction.

Presenters
Justine DeBoer

Justine has been the Title I Teacher/MTSS Coach at Valley Heights for eight years, along with being a first grade teacher for one year. Justine graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. Justine also has a Master of Science degree from Emporia State University and is a licensed Reading Specialist. Justine was named the 2019 Outstanding Early Literacy Teacher by the Valley Heights Kansas Reading Roadmaps program.
Robert Green

Robert Green has been in public education for 39 years. The last 22 years Robert has served as the building level principal for schools that have received two National Blue Ribbon awards and a National ESEA Distinguished School. In 2007, Robert was recognized as the Kansas Association of Secondary School Principals Area III Middle Level Principal Honoree. A belief that a systems approach is necessary to create transformative change, Robert has used a leadership style that encourages student success through the establishment of a school culture that is nurturing while still promoting high expectations.
