José Reyes is in his 13th year as district bilingual instructional specialist in the Gadsden Independent School District in Anthony, N.M. He has been an educator in the district for 33 years. He was an elementary bilingual education teacher for 20 years in Sunland Park, NM. As a district bilingual instructional specialist, José oversees bilingual and ELL services in the district. He assists the schools in monitoring data for placement of ELL in Alternative Language Services. He participates in identify students as ELL, former ELL and Never ELL. He advocates for students to succeed in bilingual education programs so that students can effectively use the power of two languages.
