The Keys to Ensuring Academic Engagement and Success for Students in Foster Care

Join leaders from states across the nation as they share successful strategies that empower and encourage their districts to engage and support students who are in foster care. This presentation will share stories of state agencies, districts, and schools implementing strategies that support the educational stability of this vulnerable population. As well as how they are providing information about students in foster care as a part of their state report cards. We will reveal key components of their successes: collaborating with stakeholders, championing systems that eliminate barriers and support school transitions, and building networks of support. Panelists will share their experience activating possibilities for students by providing the access and support every student needs to succeed. You will learn how schools can step in to help create a buffer between the child and developmental disruption so that the child in foster care has the space to develop the skills needed to thrive.
