Research-Based Strategies for Supporting and Retaining Provisionally-Licensed Teachers

This workshop session will identify reasons for the current teacher shortage and examine the teachers, often provisionally-licensed, being hired to fill these vacancies. Research will be presented regarding the training and support needs of these beginning teachers at the school and district level. Finally, school leaders will have the opportunity to develop a plan to address the needs of their provisionally-licensed beginning teachers through school climate and professional development that will lead to increased teacher retention and increased student success.
