Leveraging Open AI for Comprehensive Analysis of School Climate Data in Miami-Dade County

Discover how AI supports a Mixed Method analysis of the School Climate Survey responses from 14,000 teachers, 115,000 students, and 22,000 parents. Miami Dade is the third largest school district in the US with 350,000 students and 336 Title I schools. This approach integrates quantitative analysis of Likert-scale questions with qualitative analysis of open-ended responses by leveraging AI-powered Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques to extract insights from text data. While the quantitative analysis of the Likert-scale questions has been facilitated using traditional statistical methods, the analysis of the large open-ended text responses has been challenging and time-consuming. By leveraging AI-powered NLP tools to extract key themes, sentiments, and topics from the text data, the analysis of large volumes of text data was possible, thus enabling researchers to corroborate their findings and gain a more nuanced understanding of stakeholders' perceptions and experiences.
