Data-based decision making is a cornerstone of school improvement, yet educators are not taught the data literacy skills needed to make effective decisions. Kansas has been actively engaged in enhancing the data literacy skills of school leaders identified under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) as CSI, TSI, and ATSI. This intervention has yielded positive outcomes in data literacy knowledge, professional development, and transfer to the system. This presentation will cover the skills research says educators need to make data-based decisions, an example of how to intervene with the data literacy skills of leaders, the impact of the intervention, and possible implications for future intervention.
