A rural district on the rise: Discover how strategic STEM partnerships fuel student success and workforce growth in Putnam County. Nestled in Northeast Florida, Putnam County School District (PCSD) serves approximately 10,000 students spread across farming communities, river towns, and small cities. Historically challenged by high unemployment and limited tax revenue, PCSD knew that preparing its learners for twenty-first-century careers would require more than incremental change. In partnership with the Northeast Florida Regional STEM2 Hub—a nonprofit convener that unites K-12 systems, higher-education researchers, and industry innovators to build robust STEM ecosystems across seven counties. Together, PCSD and STEM2 Hub set out to prove that size and ZIP code do not have to define opportunity.
