"Our dedicated educators inspire students to take ownership of their learning and become confident, capable citizens."
- 1. Tell us about your school’s success.
-
At Bradley Elementary, we foster a love of learning while building skills in reading, mathematics, science, and critical thinking. Our dedicated educators, in partnership with families and the community, inspire students to take ownership of their learning and become confident, capable citizens. This collaborative approach has led to notable achievements, with 82% of students meeting MCAS targets. Math performance earned perfect accountability scores for achievement and growth, ELA demonstrated strong growth across all subgroups, and science proficiency increased by 30% from 2022 to 2024. These successes highlight Bradley’s commitment to equity and academic excellence.
- 2. Talk about the greatest contributing factor(s) that promoted positive change in your school.
-
We attribute our school’s success to several factors, including:
1. A focused commitment to implementing high-impact instructional strategies, underpinned by the belief that all children bring inherent value and contribute meaningfully to their classroom communities;
2. A culture of staff collaboration aimed at enhancing student learning outcomes, with a particular focus on the implementation of tiered support systems to address the diverse needs of our students; and
3. A welcoming environment that values parental input and ensures clear, consistent communication between the school and families, facilitating the recognition of successes and the identification of areas requiring improvement.
- 3. How has ESEA funding supported the school's success?
-
ESEA funding has played a pivotal role in advancing our school’s mission of equitable and high-quality education for all students. Through the strategic use of Title I grant funds, we have been able to provide targeted support for our multilingual learners, addressing their unique needs and enhancing their academic success. These funds have enabled us to implement evidence-based instructional strategies tailored to language development while maintaining rigorous academic standards.
Additionally, ESEA funding has supported coaching initiatives aimed specifically at equipping teachers with tools and techniques to make content accessible to all learners. This targeted coaching ensures that our instructional approaches are inclusive and effective, fostering an environment where every student can thrive regardless of their background. These efforts, made possible by ESEA funding, underscore our commitment to meeting the diverse needs of our students. - 4. What professional development activities were used to improve teaching and learning?
- Teachers at Bradley Elementary participate in high-quality professional learning during the summer, with opportunities to revisit and deepen their learning throughout the year. Our educators continually strive to improve their practice, united by a shared commitment to ensuring that all children receive the support they need to succeed. This commitment is reinforced through explicit professional development in equitable literacy, Thinking Maps, specially designed instruction for multilingual learners and students with disabilities, universal design for learning, and ST Math. These targeted learning opportunities empower teachers to create inclusive, effective, and equitable learning environments for every student.
- 5. Talk about the cultural shift leading up to your school's success.
-
Bradley Elementary underwent significant cultural shifts to drive meaningful change, focusing on coherence and alignment across the school. The Instructional Leadership Team (ILT) initiated an audit of instructional practices and materials to ensure they supported the school's mission. This led to strategic curriculum decisions and the adoption of unified, research-based tools for teaching and assessing standards across all grades.
The ILT established clear curriculum descriptors for each grade and prioritized a daily morning meeting to build community and develop students’ communication skills through greetings, sharing, and active listening. Core instruction followed, emphasizing proven literacy strategies grounded in the five essential components of reading instruction.
This cohesive approach has transformed Bradley into a school where alignment, intentional scheduling, and community building ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive academically and socially. - 6. How has community involvement strengthened your success?
-
We value parent input and two-way engagement. We are intentional in communicating relevant, accessible, and timely information, celebrating successes and identifying opportunities for growth. Our parents are their child’s first teacher and true partners in the work of educating every child and preparing them for future success.
Every morning, families gather outside for our daily assembly, connecting with one another and their children’s teachers. These moments reflect the authentic relationships that define every level of our organization. At Bradley, these relationships, alongside a shared vision of fostering engaged and empowered critical thinkers, create the foundation for our growth and success.
