The Art of Family Engagement™ is a research based program that increases family engagement and bridges learning at occurs at home and at school. This interactive presentation is grounded in the 4Cs of family engagement: Champion, Conducive, Commitment, and Co-Educate. Title I schools who have provided this series of professional development courses for their staff report that this framework helps teachers and parents learn from each other. The Create-to-Learn Family Project kits turn family routines into fun creative learning experiences. Workshop participants will enjoy a series of family-friendly animated videos that honor children as decision makers and encourage curiosity. Participants will receive Family Engagement Thinking Sheets and School-Family Event Planning Tools that help expand the ways families are drawn to school.

Cheri Sterman

Cheri Sterman helps educators understand creativity and build school-wide creative capacity. She translates research and best practices into professional development resources. Cheri presents Art Integration teaching strategies to the U.S. Department of Education, National Association of Elementary School Principals, and the President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities, to help education leaders see the links between creativity and 21st century learning. She has written Teacher Reflection Journals on Creative Leadership, STEAM, Family Engagement, and Multiliteracies that include coaching protocols and art-integration guidance.
