How to Empower Your Families to Navigate the School System Using the NTSS Portal

The Texas Education Agency and the Title I, Part A Parent and Family Engagement Statewide Initiative had an idea to create a helpful resource to help families in Texas find information about the public school system and help families and schools work together equally. The result of this idea is the website titled, "Navigating the School System" (NTSS), which is always changing and improving. This website covers the basics of school enrollment, attendance, behavior, graduation and more. Come immerse yourself in the newest tool available for Texas families. By the end of this session, participants will have a thorough understanding of how to use the NTSS website as a resource for navigating the public school system in Texas, and they will feel confident in utilizing this tool to enhance collaboration between families and schools.

As a dedicated Education Specialist on the Title I Parent & Family Engagement Statewide Initiative, I bring a wealth of expertise in compliance with the parent and family engagement requirements outlined in ESSA 1116, as well as extensive experience in writing, editing, and revising. As part of my role, I have had the privilege of contributing to the development of impactful documents and resources that have helped educators across the state improve their craft. Additionally, I have presented at multiple events and workshops, sharing my knowledge and insights with other education professionals. When I'm not working to elevate parent and family engagement in education, I am a proud wife to a teacher and coach, and mother to two vibrant children, aged 10 and 7. Together, we love to explore the great outdoors and ride dirt bikes. My past teaching and coaching experience has taught me the value of teamwork, utilizing each member's strengths, and employing multiple motivational techniques to achieve a shared goal.
