Alkebu-lan Images bookstore has been serving Nashville community and beyond for over 34 years. The primary focus is to be a resource for educational materials which reflect African American culture, heritage, and history. The importance of literacy continues to be a major concern in Urban teaching therefore the expansion of our African American children books. Our research found relationship to content and relevance in reading increase Lexile levels, student engagement and positive student behavior to decrease the school to prison pipeline, increase graduation rates and improve overall life opportunities for communities. We have worked with Superintendents, Assistant Superintendents, principals, teachers, parents and most importantly students in making great achievements.
