Room 103-106

A shocking 65% of fourth graders in the United States cannot read proficiently at grade level (NAEP 2017) Tragically this has been true for the past thirty years. The English language and cognitive load in the brain are at the root of the crisis, but now there is new innovation that provides a solution. Readable English provides the orthographic mapping scaffold missing from most reading instruction to accelerate student reading levels quickly. A high number of students have been labeled and received reading remediation for most of their school career. Remediation without results is not equity. We must end this heartbreaking cycle and get our students reading at grade level now! Participants will learn about the successful implementation in the MSD of Steuben County Schools in Angola, Indiana and how Readable English can help students obtain multiple years of growth in one school year.
