Creating Opportunities: Setting Students and Families Who are Migrant Up for Success

This session will provide attendees the opportunity to learn, explore and discuss ways to support migrant students and their families. Each student has unique experiences they bring to their learning. By building strong connections with parents and stakeholders we can work to provide all children equitable opportunities to build their success for the future. Participants will learn about a regional cross-sectional partnership model established this year to bring students and families in the migrant academic reengagement program together with K12 educators, community partners, social services, higher education providers, trades and apprenticeship groups to explore the pathways that are possible. Our partnership is new and growing with the core values to partner with the migrant and bilingual community to provide support and information in a way that eliminates language barriers, supports family-focused values and improves trust and partnership between families and the education system.
