Government Relations Committee Discussions
Association’s Support of Title II Funding: Your input is needed

The Government Relations Committee met with Peter Zamora, CCSSO’s Government Relations Director, at our recent Summer Meeting in Washington, DC.  As part of the Committee discussion, the decision was made to craft a letter to Congressional leaders regarding the Association’s support of Title II funding—in the face of threatened reductions and even complete elimination.

Your help is needed to ensure we capture pertinent information on the impacts of and need for continued Title II funding.  Please provide your ideas for incorporation into the letter by Friday, August 11, 2017.

I second Margo's point. Professional development is the key for teachers and school staff to develop new skills and implement new strategies. Title II funding is a key resource to support Title I staff and loss of this funding would significantly negatively impact Title I programs.

I would point out that Title II provided the support and training needed for Title I school staff (teachers & paraprofessionals) to implement the academic interventions used in Title I schools.
