- 1. What key actions or strategies have been most instrumental to your school’s success?
- Hiring certified teachers including hiring intervention teachers, an Instructional Coach and having a School & Family Liaison present every day. Focusing on essential instructional goals at every grade level and subject were key factors.
- 2. What significant challenges did your school face during your improvement efforts, and how did you address them?
- Realigning our schedules of instruction to where we could implement specific intervention times and training staff on how to effectively provide intervention and use the time effectively.
- 3. How did professional development contribute to your school’s improvement efforts?
- Our professional development consisted of how to use data to adapt instruction to assist struggling learners and ongoing professional development sessions were provided for the current curriculum being implemented.
- 4. In what ways did family and/or community partnerships support your school’s success?
- Families have always been very supportive and are very in involved in all school activities and especially stay closely involved with the academic progress of their student(s) by communicating with staff. Community partnerships are continuously growing and we are grateful to have tribal entities bring their talents and skills to share with staff and students.
- 5. How has ESEA funding (e.g., Title I, II, III) been strategically used to support student achievement?
- The funding has given us the opportunity to update our curriculum throughout every grade level and in providing professional development to effectively use the curriculum.
- 6. What advice would you give to a school just beginning its improvement journey?
- It takes time and effort to build strong and effective bonds with stakeholders, especially when working towards school improvement and making the school a better place for everyone. Supporting each other is essential.
