- James Madison has a strong culture of a student-centered approach focused on continuous improvement for each, individual student. Through high expectations, inclusive practices, engaged families, and dedicated teachers, James Madison students continue to grow academically year over year.

The greatest contributing factors at James Madison are:
1. A strong collective efficacy among all staff working with students.
2. Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) that focus on collaboration and individual student learning.
3. Inclusive learning environment for ALL learners. - 3. How has ESEA funding supported the school's success?
- ESEA funding has allowed for additional interventionists to be hired to support student learning and close student academic achievement gaps. Funding has also been used to provide professional development opportunities to staff in the areas of Math and Reading differentiated instruction.
- 4. What professional development activities were used to improve teaching and learning?
- The staff has been involved in AVMR training, the science of reading training (specifically Orton-Gillingham training), and differentiated small-group instruction in both reading and math.
- 6. How has community involvement strengthened your success?
- The James Madison community has led to the success of the school. The parents/families actively participate in school events contributing to a great sense of belonging for the students. The active PTO helps to raise funds to support student learning and buy learning materials for classrooms.
