DSST: Green Valley Ranch High School
Denver, CO
We embrace the idea of “all means all” and that every student is held to the same high standards of excellence.
1. Tell us about your school’s success.
DSST: GVR High School has had 100% college acceptance for ALL graduates, year after year since our first graduating class in 2015. We are incredibly proud of providing a rigorous STEM education and creating a safe and nurturing school where students feel seen and honored for who they are and the gifts they bring. Our students in our Special Service programs are no exception and show that when DSST GVR says “all” we mean “ALL.”
2. Talk about the greatest contributing factor(s) that promoted positive change in your school.

Our school benefited from retaining exceptional teachers and providing them with strong, targeted coaching that helped them grow as individuals and also supported the students they serve. Our students were able to access internships, hands-on learning, wrap-around services and high-quality instruction that propelled them forward.
3. How has ESEA funding supported the school's success?
Our school had the funding to provide exceptional professional development, increased curriculum support and access to enrichment programs that help our teachers create a learning environment that allowed ALL students to shine.
4. What professional development activities were used to improve teaching and learning?

Teachers participated in peer learning, direct professional development on DEI work, instructional practices, and differentiation. Teachers were able to differentiate their learning so that they grew in the way that felt most authentic to their personal goals.
5. Talk about the cultural shift leading up to your school's success.
Our staff serving students in our Special Service programs advocated, coached, and supported the community to embrace the idea of “all means all” and that every student was held to the same high standards of excellence. We emphasized that it was not just one teacher’s or program’s responsibility to help our students shine, but that the support for every student was the responsibility of every staff member. The school operated as a community, and the community made sure that everyone felt included and seen.
6. How has community involvement strengthened your success?
GVR DSST High School is lucky to be an integral part of the Green Valley Ranch community and has always benefited from deep support from not only the families we serve, but the surrounding community partners who support, employ, and celebrate our scholars.
