Unlocking Potential: A Scaffold for Enhancing Classroom Impact for Non-Certified Teachers
In this session, participants will explore the transformative power of the Skills-Knowledge-Strategy (SKS) framework in enhancing the classroom impact of non-certified teachers. The session will cover the research behind the SKS approach, its relevance in addressing the challenges faced by non-certified teachers, and its focus on developing teaching skills, acquiring essential knowledge, and utilizing effective instructional strategies. Participants will learn how the SKS framework boosts teacher clarity, self-efficacy, and credibility, and engage in hands-on activities to apply the strategies in their own classrooms. They will leave with a toolkit of practical resources to scaffold effective teaching outcomes for non-certified teachers. Nicole Teyechea, Ph.D
With over 25 years of experience spanning various educational settings, from preschool to higher education, Dr. Teyechea has served in diverse roles, including bilingual teacher, ESL teacher, gifted and talented teacher, literacy specialist, instructional coach, and district curriculum director. This extensive experience has provided her with a deep understanding of the needs of learners at different stages of development and diverse backgrounds. Dr. Teyechea's expertise extends to educational leadership, job-embedded professional development, and language acquisition, where she has made significant contributions to enhancing teaching effectiveness and student achievement.
