Frost Elementary School
Livingston, LA
Frost School prides itself on changing the experience of how students see the school."
1. Tell us about your school’s success.
Over the last few years, our school has reached success beyond our expectations. We are an accomplished B school that has continued to improve different areas on our campus. Due to the fact that we are a small community based PK-8th school, we have been able to build and strengthen our relationships with our students and community. We continue to provide and improve our education to our students as well as welcome input from the community on how to improve our school.
2. Talk about the greatest contributing factor(s) that promoted positive change in your school.
Reinventing a culture change has been the key to our success in our continued growth. From repainting the campus, rebranding our school, improving community outreach, and providing a better overall experience for our teachers and students have all contributed to our success.

We have also compiled years of data and have transferred that into visual data so that our students and teachers see our strengths and weaknesses. We have a dedicated Data room that provides data on all students on our campus.
3. How has ESEA funding supported the school's success?
ESEA funding allows us the opportunity daily interventions and enrichment for all of our students. We utilize the funds to hire personnel to push into classrooms and work with students to close gaps in education knowledge. In addition we are able to purchase technology and digital materials to aid in the implementation of blended learning in our classroom.
4. What professional development activities were used to improve teaching and learning?
Professional development is an important aspect of our school and is ongoing throughout the year. For the past few years, we have focused on data collection and analyzation of the data. We have created a data work room where we visually show teachers how each students is doing. Our teachers and staff became 100% certified in Microsoft Teams, Google Classroom, Kahoot, Seasaw, Ed Puzzle, Flip Grid, Screen Castify and Apple Class as a result of the pandemic that overcame our area. Other activites include informal and formal observations, peer observations, data analysis, and monthly meetings to discuss the pros and cons of what we have done the previous month.
5. Talk about the cultural shift leading up to your school's success.
Frost School prides itself on changing the experience of how students see school. Our parents and local businesses' are very supportive and vocal about our academic experience that we offer our students. Our students are rewarded every week with something such as birthday crowns, students of month, highest test score for the week, attendance prizes, etc.

Teachers are also given rewards for attendance, teacher of month, etc.

Frost also recognizes are support workers (custodians, bus drivers, secretaries, cafeteria personnel) because without them, it would be difficult to run a school.

We try and make school fun for our students and teachers and show tremendous appreciation for even the smallest success.
6. How has community involvement strengthened your success?
Frost community is extremely supportive and important to our success. Our parking lots are packed when there is an event on our campus. Veterans Day programs, Christmas programs, Graduation programs are always a priority in our school.

Our community has given us several new ideas to make the Frost "experience" a better place to work. Social media has been utilized for parent communication and feedback.

Our school has been a Mighty Moms school for several years. We provide food and meals for children who do not have the opportunity for hot meals at home. It is extremely important at Frost that we not only take care of our students at school...but also at home as much as we can.
