In 2014, the National Title I Association partnered with the International Literacy Association to develop the Read, Eat, and Discover Program, which combines volunteer-led literacy instructional programs with existing Title I School vacation-based food programs to improve student reading and literacy skills, and foster parental engagement. What began with two pilot states has now evolved into a multi-system program spanning across several states, with more scheduled to launch in the next year. Come learn how you can make a difference by starting a R.E.A.D. program in your local school or district.

Rebecca Donaldson

Rebecca S. Donaldson, Ph.D., serves as the Federal and Special Programs Coordinator at the Utah State Board of Education. In this role she leads a team that supports Title I, School Improvement, State School Turnaround, Migrant Education, Neglected and Delinquent Services, Title III, 21 st Century Community Learning Centers, Rural Low Income Schools, McKinney-Vento
Homeless Education, and Parent and Family Engagement. She has been involved in public education for 39 years as a teacher, instructional coach, and administrator working primarily with Title I schools. Becky received a Doctor of Philosophy in Education with an Emphasis in Literacy from Utah State University. In 2011, she was a Distinguished Finalist for the International Literacy Association’s Dissertation of the Year Award.
