Under changes in ESSA, many Title I schools and districts are now more actively involved with support and instruction of English language learner (ELL) students. WIDA at the University of Wisconsin-Madison has nurtured a membership for 39 state education agencies across the U.S. This session covers three primary parts of ELL education: 1) a description of the ELL identification, placement, assessment, and reclassification process, 2) information about WIDA Screener, a third-generation assessment tool for ELL identification and placement, and 3) details about WIDA resources available to assist with WIDA score interpretation.
Scott Gomer has worked at WIDA for four years. His experience with WIDA program development and conference outreach has provided great insights into the connections between educators and WIDA products & services.
