Thursday February 8, 2018
1:30 - 2:30 PM
Room 103

College readiness and career readiness can be challenging for all districts most especially those of poverty. From the beginning 37 years ago AVID’s mission was to ensure student access to rigorous courses and fulfilling their academic potential. Accelerated student learning, research-based effective instruction, and meaningful professional development are the underpinnings of the AVID College Readiness System; leading to transforming beliefs and attitudes about college readiness for ALL students. Highlighted in this session are independent research results from a six year study of AVID’s impact on college readiness school wide as well as on the AVID elective student cohorts. Persistence data from the National Clearinghouse for AVID students will also be presented. The presenters will share how this data can be replicated other schools.
