Supporting Children's Literacy Development at Home: Aligning Home and School Practices
Looking for free literacy resources to share with families that reflect research evidence? Seeking guidance on how to disseminate and deliver evidence-based literacy information to families? In this workshop, participants will: a) learn about the National Center on Improving Literacy's (NCIL) free "Supporting Your Child's Literacy Development at Home" toolkit that provides families with evidence-based strategies, tips, and activities to help children develop as readers from preschool through adolescence; b) explore strategies to assist schools and organizations in disseminating toolkit information directly to families; and c) hear lessons learned from Family Connection of South Carolina's experience delivering learning sessions based on NCIL resources to diverse families before and during the pandemic.
