Linda Bone

Professor/Author
Charleston Southern University

Dr. Karges-Bone is often called a "Teachers' Teacher", because she relates with compassion, humor, and insight to the needs and experiences of educators. With 4 decades of experience, first as a teacher in Title I sites, then for many years as a professor preparing future teachers and principals for work in high poverty settings, she understands the unique pressures and potential trauma associated with this work. She has written, lectured, and done media work on professional coaching and developed a targeted skill set on the adult brain as it negotiates high stress professions. Most of all, she believes that teaching is the most noble of all work and that teachers are actually "brain surgeons" working in classrooms and that they should be treated with the utmost consideration and respect.
