Julie Smith was named Rookie Principal of the year by the UAESP in 2021. She has been an administrator for 7 years including 5 years as a Site Coordinator and 2 years as principal. Julie was a learning coach for several years and has taught multiple grade levels in elementary. As a learning coach, she trained teachers and coaches in utilizing Close Reading and making a writing connection, tier one instruction, and engagement strategies. Julie trained the principals in her school district on how to plan and implement data meetings throughout the school year. She and her learning coach, Heather Campbell, have implemented this process at their school with fidelity, set PEERS goals, and utilized the impact cycle to monitor student growth.
