Tomorrow is today, the future is now. Traditional classroom structures are a thing of the past due to the many complexities associated with our current society and the needs of 21st-century learners. Restorative, trauma-informed environments are necessary for our students, especially those who have experienced a high number of ACEs. As leaders, it is essential that we have strategically used our staffing, budgets, and schedules in our new environment to ensure that we are providing necessary supports and a restorative, trauma-informed environment for our students and staff. During this session, we will collaborate and reflect on current practices with staffing, budget, and schedules using questions developed using the 5 Rs of Restorative Practices and SAMHSA’s six principles that guide trauma-informed environments. You will also hear ideas and reflections from interviews with experienced Title 1 school administrators.
