Partnering with Parents to Move Our Schools Beyond Bullying

Tuesday February 4, 2014
11:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Room 5

School climate is an essential factor in determining whether students will be bullied or not.  According to the National Center for Education Statistics, nearly 1 in 3 students report being bullied during the school year.  Research also supports that students who experience bullying are at increased risk for depression, anxiety, sleep difficulties, and poor school adjustment.  This session will provide an overview of the different types of bullying, as well as resources to assist SEAs, LEAs and schools in working with parents of students who experience bullying.  Participants will also leave with strategies to enhance parent partnership approaches that effectively prevent and respond to bullying.
